Ana Rada Tarifa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Pharmacy from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA). She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology. She is currently affiliated with the Cytogenetics Unit of the Genetics Institute, Faculty of Medicine, UMSA in La Paz, Bolivia.
She has served as a member of the Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Council for Science (RCLAC–ICSU), as well as Past President of the Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Science Council (RCLAC–ISC). She also served as Bolivia’s Focal Point for the Women for Science Program of the Inter-American Network of Academies of Sciences (IANAS).
At present, Ana is a Full Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Bolivia (ANC–Bolivia) and a TWAS Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS). She is also a member of the Latin American Network of Biological Dosimetry (LBDNet), a Full Member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), and member of the Bolivian Genetics Society. She has authored book chapters and multiple scientific articles. Her primary research interests include Human Genetics, Cytogenetics, Genetic Epidemiology, and Biological Dosimetry.
